Te Hā - Waitaha has a hub in Christchurch with Stop Smoking Practitioners based in Māori, Pasifika and rural community organisations across Canterbury. We run group clinics in various locations and also provide individual support.

Our Stop Smoking Practitioners work with you and your whānau to find ways that can make quitting easier.

Specific support is available to you if you are Māori, Pacific, pregnant or living with a pregnant woman.

After you or your whānau register for support, a Stop Smoking Practitioner will contact you to discuss how we can best help. We will work with you to set a quit date, and provide ongoing support so you can stay smokefree.

We can tailor a stop smoking programme that works for you after an initial face-to-face conversation. This programme will include more face-to-face sessions or follow-up by phone or both.

You’ll also be able to access FREE Nicotine Replacement Therapy – patches, gum and lozenges – as well as customised support.

QuitStrong: New campaign to support becoming smokefree

Most people who smoke want to give up, but they need help and support to have the best chance at becoming smokefree.

QuitStrong celebrates that many people do quit, and that the support of others can help.

The campaign also seeks to tackle the reality that many quit attempts are not successful. QuitStrong promotes better ways to quit by linking people to support and tools that can increase their chances of giving up the smokes for good.

The campaign is a partnership between the Ministry of Health, Te Hiringa Hauora/Health Promotion Agency and Quitline.
